First off – first rule of Beta club – don’t talk about Beta club. So I can’t put down a big slab of meaty info here. At best I can confirm that there are EPIC destinies – what exactly they do I can’t tell you. Except that 2 of them are not completed and there are still some issues with the others. Plus the fact that they’re not turned on as far as I know.
Also – it’s close to impossible to judge how the new quote format is going to shape up with Epic now being sloth through Elite (I meant casual of course) since it’s not yet done. As of today everything seems to be ‘normal’ and I assume next patch will fix that somewhat. Especially since only Epic quests gives good XP for level 21-25 and right now most of them don’t give any (and to reiterate – right now only ‘normal’ works and it’s not ‘normal’ epic).
Now since I can’t tell you about any changes (are there any? I don’t know – can’t talk about it) I’d like to add a somewhat vague blog post about what underdark will add.
We know that underdark itself is a journey from the webgate through the interconnected paths in the web, through underdark cavern (a portion of it anyways) to Eveningstar. And that once in Eveningstar you can take a bunch of quests and then venture into the Knights Forest. And there you can run into a random set of critters – more random in placement and such than in any other wilderness. A new system of sort. I can tell you that you have level 21-25 and that you can unlock epic destinies for all classes (eventually) and switch them around using a fatespinner. Twists of faiths allow you to use other destinies while unlock another OR I guess do some part of one destiny and continue into another. Or something like that.
Are these epic enough? Yes – they are – BUT it won’t suite everyone. Take artificer. It CAN benefit from several but they won’t really be that perfect for that class. Which is true with any of them. However with the origin classes they at least get a much better fit with their specific destiny than a class like Artificer (but I think they said that eventually all classes will have their destiny).
And the benefits are plenty, making all classes pretty darn good. In fact it’s fully possible for say a Artificer to use the Mage destiny and get lots out of it. Or maybe even the ranger and get some – although when you read the ranger you have to be very careful since some of the stuff seems to be specific for a ranger with a bow.
That would of course be true if a barbarian decided to venture into a sorc destiny – he might find something interesting but most of it will be a pure miss.
I am excited however. Seeing some of the new items in the game. But also having played some quests and milled through the destinies. I do want to find out the difference between Epic normal and Epic elite since right now Epic didn’t work as intended.
Normal ‘should’ be able to be soloed (casual as well) while hard and I assume Elite will be for a good group.
And whenever that is added and I can actually talk about it I will report back in greater detail.
